Hi my name is Antonio, thanks for visiting. I was born in Cuba in 1967. I grew up in a small town west of Havana and showed an interest in painting and drawing from e very early age. I surprised my parents early on by drawing just about everything that moved. In school I would rush through my work in order to have time to draw.
By the time I was ten years old I had entered drawing contests regularly. I loved to paint landscapes, animals and people. My drawings and paintings earned me numerous awards in school contests. In 1980 my parents and I migrated to the U.S., settling in Key West; where as luck would have it is a wonderful town for artists. I felt blessed after seeing all of the beauty that Key West has to offer, and began to paint sea scapes, boats and local architecture as well as the island’s colorful people. |
Over the last fifteen years I have painted professionally, but it was not till 1996 when I joined The Guild Hall (a local artists co-op) that I seriously began to make progress with my artwork. Slowly, I began to show my work in other galleries and establish myself as a true professional artist. In January of 2000 I started showing my work at Mallory Square’s Sunset Celebration, there artists, artisans and performers gather nightly to show their craft and to anjoy Key West’s glorious sunsets. Mallory is my favorite location where to sell my work since I meet my customers and I’m able to share details about how some of my paintings developed.
Currently I my work is displayed at The Key West Art Center, The Chicken Store, Guild Hall and others galleries and stores throughout Key West and the Keys as well as the nightly event at Mallory Square and now this web site which I hope you enjoy and give me some feedback with questions, comments and suggestions.
